Thought for the Weekend

Why is there a disclaimer on the Allstate Auto Insurance commericals that says "Not available in all states"?

  1. Eureka! It took me a day to figure it out, but here's why: It's not supposed to be all state, but all's Tate. Tate refers to old Grammar (grandparent) Tate in the book "Dragon Slippers" by Jessica Day George. Tate lived to 83 (I believe) which was really old for the time. Then, remembering that in some cultures, old means wise, they really mean to say that the Allstate auto insurance company is run by wise people who do good things. Of course, since not many would think of that explanation, they make it Allstate so many would think of it as all state. They put the disclaimer for two reasons: a) because it's true and b) so smart people like kokopelli will notice and figure out the real meaning. Isn't that neat?

  2. Maybe they mean "Not available in Puerto Rico"?
